Create Green Space In St. Roch

Agency: Life Is Art

Description:

Volunteers are needed to help create green space in the St. Roch Neighborhood. The space will be supporting Life is Art Foundation’s urban farm and educational program. Using the farm as a platform to educate local youth, staff and volunteers will be able to provide regular classes and programming.

Volunteer responsibilties will include:

  • Clearing weeds in overgrown areas
  • Moving lumber and debris
  • Constructing garden beds
  • Planting crops in the gardens beds and more

Life is Art Foundation is based in the St. Roch neighborhood of New Orleans in six previously abandoned structures: a former bakery, a storefront, and four 19th century homes. The properties sit in a one block area of the derelict neighborhood on North Villere between Music and Arts streets.
