Agency: Resurrection After Exoneration
Description:
Volunteers are needed to assist with computer literacy courses at Resurrection After Exoneration (RAE). Volunteers will support RAE’s computer literacy program by providing close attention to class attendees and making sure they are steadily progressing throughout the class. The classes cover very basic computer skills (turning the computer on and off, basic work with folders, Microsoft Word and the internet). Keeping a low instructor-to-student ratio will increase the effectiveness of each class for community members and ensure that they truly grasp each step of the process. Each class will include recent exonerees and other members of the 7th Ward community.
Please note that each class is part of a 6 week-long course. All volunteers are welcome but individuals who can commit to coming
regularly are encourage to do so.
Resurrection After Exoneration (RAE) was founded in 2007 by exonerees (individuals that were wrongfully convicted and then proven innocent in court) to promote and sustain a network of support among formerly wrongfully incarcerated individuals in the South. RAE works to reconnect exonerees to their communities and provide access to those opportunities of which they were robbed. This project is led by HandsOn New Orleans' Volunteer Leaders.
