Since March of 2006, HandsOn New Orleans has provided an affordable home for visiting volunteers who come from around the world to help rebuild and revitalize New Orleans.

Volunteer Housing

HandsOn New Orleans recently moved to a new volunteer house on 3321 Banks Street and can accommodate up to 40 volunteers a night!

We provide volunteers with places to sleep, showers, two meals a day and internet access.  Volunteers can connect with service opportunities through our Online Project Calendar.  If nothing on our calendar piques your interest, volunteers are welcome to reach out to local non-profits and arrange their own service work based on their interests and skills.

Our facility is a communal living environment, so bathrooms, showers, and dining areas are shared.  As part of our community, volunteers are asked to sign up for house duties to help maintain the facility during their stay.  This can include morning clean-up, cooking for other volunteers, or dinner kitchen patrol.  We also ask volunteers to participate in regular community meetings.  Community meetings occur during dinner and are a place for volunteers to share their experiences and hear about all the good work going on in the city.

To schedule your group to volunteer and stay with HandsOn New Orleans, send an email to housing@handsonneworleans.org  or call 504.483.7041 extension 107.
